That idea…of living that life you imagined.
You dreamt it. I dreamt it. We all did. You had a dreamy vision of being the ultimate child while growing up, that girl walking around the high school, the totally together woman accepting her first job, the new and glorious wife of Mr. Right and the energetic mom of who knows how many kids. You even felt beyond that to include top athlete, company executive, cutesy shop owner, loyal friend, supportive sister and public servant. You have, in fact, done a lot of the heroic, the stoic and the all-knowic. But, you see, here you are with so many irons in the fire of life! Can you even count them? You think you can do it all. You think you can be it all. You think you can know it all. Then you take on more and more externally. Your voyage externally is wild. You wind yourself up every day to be on boards, in classrooms, at shops, volunteering and even home educating. The problem then is not this problem. It’s who you have to be to DO all of that well. It’s what you feel when you’re alone. It’s what you say to yourself in mirrors. It’s the constant drain you feel your energy and enthusiasm. It’s that nagging voice reminding you to high road it when you don’t. It’s the body you live in that chases around pleasure and entertainment that’s fleeting. Cause at the end of it all YOU are still there, that woman inside is the woman who stands on the outside for all to see. The way others see it though is… You’re the one you have to love first to love more. You’re the one you have to serve first to serve better. You’re the one who must be at prayer and thought first to inspire others. You’re the one who has to learn first to really teach. You must then take on the inside of yourself to really know yourself and show yourself. You must be fortified to carry the weight of every day, which only has the sole interest of caving in on you. Will you be formed? Will you be fortified? Will you be faithful and fit and ultimately ready for what’s ahead? Not if you choose to stay stuck. Not if living disjointedly is your drug. Not if you don’t think your body and soul all speak of the same truths. You need to be a healthy and happy mother. You need to crawl out of your cave of sorrow and rise. Not because you’re woman and the world needs to hear your roar, NO, but… Because your life is hidden in Christ and even those deepest recesses deserve wholeness. Show me a man, woman or child in your life who’d be put out by you becoming stronger, more disciplined, properly motivated, and stubbornly faithful! SHOW ME IF YOU CAN. I know you want more. I know He wants more of you. Will you become a saint? Will you live the life you imagined or at least have the strength, stamina and ability to handle the less than amazing stuff landed on you for your sanctity? “This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.” Duet. 30:19 You get the choice today…again. You choose! Lifting you up, Rebecca Dussault P.S.
